The aerospace industry, particularly the operating airlines and manufacturers, are seeking technicians qualified to Foundation Degree level to fill roles within their industries. Success on this course will place graduates in an ideal position to compete for one of these opportunities. The course offers a sound mix of theory and practice; making full use of industry standard facilities and systems and applying the latest computer aided engineering techniques.

In addition to the above, Foundation Degree graduates will have the opportunity to progress to the College’s BSc degree course in Aeronautical Engineering.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The Foundation Degree is available as a full-time, part-time or flexible learning programme, organised into HE academic years consisting of two semesters, each of 15 weeks duration. These options are set-out below

Foundation Degree in Aeronautical Engineering (Full-time Programme)

Year 1

Mathematics 1
Electro-Mechanical Science
Engineering Materials
Manufacturing Techniques
Flight Mechanics
Computer Aided Design
Study Skills
minimum pass mark 40% in each module

After first year you can either leave with a Certificate of Higher Education or progress onto Year 2 in order to complete the Foundation Degree.
