To meet the Government’s goal of developing strong employer relations with the education sector and assist you in raising the Skills for Life, Wider Skills and Level 2 qualifications of post-16 learners, the British Army has an initiative known as the Further Education Bursary Scheme.
• The scheme will include all A Levels, vocational courses and Bursars must be engaged full time on a Level 2 or Level 3 programme
• On passing Army Development Selection Centre (ADSC) interview, the ‘potential Bursar’ becomes a ‘Bursar’ and will receive a pack to welcome on to the Scheme. Only those with Grades A and B from ADSC will be accepted onto the scheme, and potential bursars must pass ADSC by 31 May in their first year of college/sixth form
• 1 x payment of £1000 on passing ADSC, paid at the end of the College course year. Bursars will receive their further payments of £1000 at the end of each year of their course, subject to attending the expected Army activities
• 1 x payment of £1000 at the end of Phase 1 Training
• All Bursars will be required to undergo ADSC eligibility checks once medicals have exceeded 12 months, just like any other potential entrant.
