Entry 2010
The entry points used throughout this prospectus are based in the UCAS tariff system. Under this, an A grade pass will be worth 120 UCAS points and AVCEs will be graded A-E just like A levels.
For precise information about entry requirements for 2010, including information about key skills requirements, please see the relevant fact files at the end of each subject section or call Admissions on 01252 407028.
The level of our normal offer for each programme of study is given on the relevant fact file. If you are able to meet the normal offer for your chosen course, you will meet the entrance requirements automatically.
All National and Higher National qualifications are accepted as a basis for admission, but for some courses, particularly in sciences, you will need to include units at an appropriate level in the subjects specified as course requirements.
The College welcomes National Diplomas as satisfying the general entrance requirement. Additional modules may be required for admission to some programmes. Further details are available from the Admissions office or the contact number given on the fact file.
Mature students
If you are over 21 before you start your course you will be regarded as a mature student. As a mature student you need not satisfy the requirements listed here but you will need to show ability to undertake high level work and that you have the necessary study skills. Where there are course requirements you will asked to demonstrate an equivalent knowledge of the subject.
The following are among the qualifications we normally accept as a basis for the admission of mature students:
- Edexcel Professional Development Units
- Access or Return to Study courses
- Open University credits
- Practising Professional Qualifications
If you would like a detailed comment on your eligibility before submitting a formal application, please write to the admissions officer, saying which course you are interested in, giving details of your qualifications and experience. Formal applications by mature students should be submitted through UCAS in the normal way.
