Apprenticeships

Do you want to have a job, earn a wage and get a qualification at the same time? Then an Apprenticeship could be just what you are looking for.

Apprenticeships are for young people aged 16 and over who are in full time employment. Your employer will support you in developing the skills needed to gain your qualification while you continue to work; most Apprentices spend four days each week in the workplace and attend College one day a week (during term time).  The Apprenticeship programme usually consists of three areas including a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), a Technical Certificate and Key or Functional Skills.

What's great about taking an Apprenticeship:

• Earn a wage – earn as you learn, so no need to build up debts whilst you get your qualifications

• Get free training – your training is mainly funded by the government, not you

• Get relevant skills under your belt – improve your chances of getting the job you really want

• Go further – your Apprenticeship can open the door to an Advanced Apprenticeship, Foundation Degree or University

• Get support with Skills for Life- improve those essential Literacy and Numeracy skills along the way
