What our students say

Amy Taylor -Level 1 Carpentry
from Edgbarrow School, Crowthorne

"I decided to do this course because it’s a bit different to be a girl in this industry and I see this as an advantage when it comes to getting employment. I like being on the move so a career in this industry will be a great way for me to earn a living without having to sit in an office!

It’s a really nice environment here, it feels comfortable but you are still encouraged all the time to achieve. The workshop is huge, which is ideal for practical work. Overall there is a nice balance of theory and practical; I’m interested in making furniture and staircases but I especially like the theory side of things.

My next step would be to progress to Level 2, then eventually do the Level 3 course which would allow me to get work experience with a day release at College. The course is a big commitment but I know it will be worth all the hard work in the end."

Vickie Brown & George Foster – Travel and Tourism
from All Hallows School & Tomlinscote

"We have been at the College for 3 years and enjoyed our time here. The support has been great. We have made some really good friends and built good relationships with the lecturers. The residential trips have been interesting and informative, relevant to the course and so much fun. One sentence sums up our time here: love it, love it love it. It has been a really great experience."

Kerry Jones - BSc (Hons) Sport Science (Exercise and Health Management) from Cove School

"I studied at Farnborough after leaving school and originally planned to go elsewhere for my Degree studies. I really enjoyed the first year and stayed on because I knew the lecturers, enjoyed the friendly environment and the social side of the course. The lecturers are really helpful and gave lots of support.  Group sizes are small so there is much more contact with teaching staff if you need it. I am currently working as a fitness instructor and personal trainer in the gym at a local hotel and also doing some voluntary work at College helping with the first year students."

Andy Fishwick - Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprentice and Winner of the Regional Apprenticeship Award 2010.

"I was originally on a National Diploma course for Aeronautical Engineering but wanted a more hands-on course so I applied for the Aircraft Maintenance course.
I was interviewed by a panel of eight people, and a few weeks later I heard that I had been chosen as one of 12 people who were accepted on to the course, sponsored by PremiAir, TAG and Gama, as an apprentice. I would recommend a career in Aviation Maintenance to other teenagers as long as they are willing to put in the hard work and are committed”.

Soya Budhathoki National Diploma in Media (TV)

"On arriving from Nepal, a friend of mine recommended the College as I had always expressed an interest in the media industry.
I started at the College on the First Diploma in Media; the hands-on approach really suits me. The Radio and TV studios are ‘state-of-the-art’ facilities. The tutors are fantastic and very supportive.
I have now graduated in BSc (Hons) Media and I would like to work as TV presenter."

Sukraraj Sunuwar, Sonia Rana & Shagar Gurung - ESOL

"I like everything about the College. The tutors and facilities are excellent.  Eventually, I want to study Motor Vehicle.”

“Friends recommended the College as I wanted to improve my English skills. After this course, I want to take the National Diploma in Health and Social Care and then a Degree.”

“I came to the Open Day and talked to the ESOL team. The tutors are very helpful. My plans are to take the ND in Aeronautical and then go on to a Degree.”
