National Award for top student

12 March 2008

Sarah Swinden came top of the class, nationally, when she achieved 99% in the Certificate in Manual Payroll Exam. The course had been delivered on-site at AMEY who sponsored 6 members of its staff.
Amey Plc recently announced that the finance department would move to Oxford thus resulting in redundancy for staff within this department.  Sarah commented ‘The Company has been very supportive and has been really good in communicating with us. The announcement was made so early that it gave me time to actually find another job; Farnborough College of Technology has been extremely helpful: a local employer got in touch with the College, thanks to its quarterly publication ‘Farnborough Link’ when he was recruiting; this was my chance to find a new position and I am starting my new job next month!’
Sarah received her certificate and engraved decanter from Ray Wilkinson, Centre Support Centre for the International Association of Book keepers (IAB).
To celebrate even further her achievement, the College Principal, Christine Davis, hosted a special lunch where Sarah  and the IAB representative were invited as well as Maureen Kefford, representing the Payroll Services Manager from Amey (Maureen had also taken and passed the exam), Joyce Marchant, Curriculum Manager for Hampshire Business School and Sue Mogridge, Course Tutor.
