Three Students studying for Degrees in Media Production at Farnborough College of Technology worked on the World Professional Darts Championships at Lakeside in Frimley Green.
Chris Philpot, James Ledlie and Tom Coster worked as Production Assistants gaining invaluable experience in a Live TV environment. The students were really involved, James said 'It was fantastic experience and we made some great contacts, the production team asked us if we would be interested in working on ‘Wimbledon’ in the summer which is fantastic’
TWI, the company that produced the coverage for the BBC contacted the College looking for three reliable and able students who would like to do some work experience.
Head of Media and Creative Arts at the College, Lawrence Magee, said, ‘It is this sort of experience that makes FCOT stand out from other Universities, this year we have had students at Match of the Day, GMTV, Sky and Big Brother, invaluable experience making our students stand out in the job market’
This was the third year in succession TWI have chosen Farnborough College of Technology students to work on the Championships. The College has an excellent reputation in Media Production and is particularly known for its Sky Scholarship, over 60 ex students now work at Sky Television.
Apart from Wimbledon TWI also produce World Championship Snooker, the Grand Prix, and the Masters for the BBC; they produced over 45 hours of coverage of the Darts which was also being shown around Europe by Eurosport.
