Aldershot College part of Farnborough College of Technology is now the proud owner of a new clipper saw.  This fantastic piece of equipment was donated by the Guildford & District Construction Industry Training Group who is keen supporters of the College.  The Group is chaired by Mike Poulter, who presented the Clipper Saw to College Principal Christine Davis. The Principal was delighted that the commitment of staff to working with employers and professional trades has resulted in such a fine piece of machinery being given to the College to be used as part of the students training.

Before the presentation, the construction staff from the College met with members of the Training Group and enjoyed a full English breakfast.   The visitors had the opportunity to discuss the portfolio of courses on offer and how the College could help with their current and future training needs.

The Group which is fully aware of the difficulties facing the construction industry are still mindful that we need to be prepared for the upturn with skilled trade’s people. By supporting the College with these types of initiatives they are playing a part in training students for a career in the Construction industry. An outcome from these essential working group meetings the Group decided to donate the specialist piece of machinery to be used by the College Brickwork Section.  The saw will be used to safely cut bricks to required shapes and sizes with the minimum of wastage.

George Greer the Head of School of Construction said “we fully appreciate the support given by the Guildford and District Construction Industry Training Group and are delighted to receive this gift which will be a great asset to the College and its students”.
