Farnborough College of Technology were delighted to include in their Staff development day a workshop delivered by Simon Katte from the Financial Services Authority. Each year the College arranges 3 staff development days giving both academic and support staff workshops and demonstrations on a variety of areas from Funding methodology to a day of understanding the Nepali culture and history.
Through the Colleges relationship with the National Skills Academy for Financial Services, Director Stephen Smith suggested that a workshop from the FSA would be a beneficial inclusion for staff. The key messages were taking control, borrowing money, Insurances, protecting your family, saving and planning for retirement. Tips on how you could save on annual household bills were gratefully received and key words and phrases used in the financial world were explained.
Helen Wiles part of the College HR team that arranges the development days said “in the current economic climate it seemed appropriate to offer our staff an opportunity to find out how they could save money and understand the various support there is in the marketplace. We were pleased that 125 staff attended this workshop. It was great that Stephen Smith was able to assist us with setting the workshop up with the Financial Services Authority. The College is not only committed to delivering professional courses within the financial sector but ensuring our staff at all levels are supported in understanding the world of finance.”
