I didn’t know anyone when I started the Level 3 course, but now I have a good group of friends. We always help each other with our assignments so its helpful to have friends on the same course. I really like that there are a lot of options when studying health and social care, there are lots of different jobs attached to the course.

I’ve done two work experience placements this year; one in a children’s nursery and the other in an adult residential care home.The work placements have really helped me build my confidence working with adults and I learnt a lot about personal care, the staff on placement also gave me 1-1 support and guidance throughout my work days.

Overview

About the course

This course is for school leavers looking to kick-start their career in the care services sector. This one-year programme will provide you with an introduction into health and social care, preparing you to progress onto the Level 3 in Health and Social care or employment.

  • You will have the opportunity to attend a two week work placement, helping with your transition into either Level 3 or the workplace
  • Careers related to health and social care include nursing, midwifery, social work, health care assistant or paramedic practice
  • Discover the role played by professionals within a health and social care setting
  • Our purpose-built spaces include a hospital cubicle

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

From School

  • Four GCSEs at grades 9-3
  • To include English language and either maths or science GCSEs at grades 9-3

From College

  • Relevant level 1 qualification
  • English and maths at level 1 or higher
