About the course
This course is ideal for School Leavers who want to pursue a career in travel and tourism.
This is a course designed to give you a comprehensive background to the travel industry. You will study a range of subject areas in travel, tourism and hospitality which will develop your knowledge, skills and understanding that are relevant to the sector.
While studying this course, you will also get to take part in visits to local and national businesses, guest talks from industry professionals and international residential trips.
Who is this programme for?
The course is designed for school leavers who are interested in the exciting world of Travel and Tourism would like to progress on to Level 3 or an apprenticeship after completion.
What will I study?
You’ll learn essential skills such as business awareness, customer service and understanding destinations in the UK and worldwide.
Trips
As part of the curriculum, we arrange domestic and international trips and visits. In previous years we have destinations such as Dubai UAE, Italy and Germany.

How will I be taught?
You will be taught and assessed via a range of methods, which will keep you interested and motivated. Lessons will be classroom based and you will be encouraged to use modern technology for research and completion of your assignments.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is mainly coursework with deadlines set across the academic year. Two units will be exam based. Grades can be attained of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* depending on the level of achievement.

What Next?
Successful completion of the course with a Merit* enables you to progress to Level 3 qualifications in Business or Travel and Tourism.

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?
From School
- Four GCSEs at grades 9-3
- To include English or maths GCSEs at grades 9-3
From College
- Relevant level 1 qualification at merit grade
- English and maths at level 1 or higher
