The Senior People management is designed to improve people practices in organisations in order to drive organisational performance and effectiveness. Senior People Professionals are the in-house experts in people, work and change. Students must be fully aware of the commitment to this course which involves an 80% minimum attendance requirement and substantial self-directed study. You will also be required to attend an induction and pre-arranged individual tutorials. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, facilitated workshops, and case study analysis. The weeks stated are not consecutive and college holidays are taken as indicated on the college website.
We hope that our classes will be face-to face teaching where possible. However, please note that due to the current Coronavirus pandemic situation, as is the case in many colleges and universities, it is likely that some classes will be taught on-line, with the potential to move to a fully on-line situation if needed. You will, therefore, need technology that can support the use of Microsoft Teams.

In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with a range of stakeholders across their organisation, creating medium to long-term value for a wide audience. In larger organisations, they may be part of a wider specialist team. They may also lead a team of HR/L&D/OD consultants/advisers. In smaller organisations, they might be solely responsible for the entire people agenda and report directly to the organisation lead. At this level, Senior People Professionals are ambassadors for their organisations and will typically have wide-ranging networks and need to interact with a wide range of internal and external senior stakeholders.
Once the Diploma is completed, this reaches the final qualification provided by the CIPD taught at the University Centre Farnborough. Further studies could be continued at a Masters level elsewhere.
This course is a postgraduate equivalent level course. Students are expected to have had relevant work experience and be academically qualified. This means either an appropriate degree or the CIPD Level 5. An interview with a member of the HR teaching team is required, prior to, or at enrolment and this will be completed at one of the open evening events run by the college or via a remote Teams call.
It is a requirement of this course that you take out CIPD membership once you have started your course – please see the CIPD website for the latest offers on student membership fees. Please note that the CIPD Level 7 courses are not available under the Advanced Learner Loan Scheme.
