About the course

Who is the Apprenticeship for?

The primary role of a marketing Assistant is to support customer-focused marketing activities that drive the demand of a product or service. The Marketing Assistant will contribute to the implementation of the Marketing strategy and plans. They will be responsible for delivering day to day marketing activities across a multitude of platforms, channels and systems that are essential to the Marketing function and activities of the company.

Typical job titles include: Marketing Assistant, Marketing Communications Assistant, Marketing Campaigns Assistant, Brand Assistant, Promotional Assistant.

What modules are covered?

What does the apprenticeship cover?

This apprenticeship is made up of Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.

Knowledge is taught within college one day a week and will cover topics including:

  • Marketing theory, concepts and basic principles
  • Current technologies
  • Legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Principles of Marketing ethics
  • Internal dependencies that influence marketing (IT, Finance, Sales, Operations)
  • Primary and Secondary research
  • Brand theory
  • Marketing within organisational structures and processes
  • Briefing external suppliers
  • Copywriting and SEO techniques
  • The customer journey and market relevant customer segments

Skills are taught in the workplace and may include:

  • Research/survey software to gather audience insight
  • Applying creativity to use a website content management system
  • Use social media platforms to publish content
  • Use high volume email delivery software
  • Compile marketing briefs for external suppliers
  • Marketing planning and coordination
  • Marketing data analysis
  • Compile marketing reports from appropriate software eg: CRM/Google Analytics/Dotmailer

Entry Requirements

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

Entry requirements:

Grade A*-C or 4-9 GCSE Maths and English. Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this prior to taking the end point assessment.
