This qualification is designed to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of the context of mental health, factors which affect young people, the impact of their concerns and how to support someone with mental health concerns. By completing the qualification, learners will develop in-depth knowledge of children and young people's mental health which could support progression onto other appropriate qualifications and into relevant employment in the health and social care sector.
This course is available to start throughout August until the end of February, but must be completed by 30 June. If you are paying for the course, you can start on any date throughout the year and have 6 months to complete it.

You will be provided with the learning materials either online and/or hardcopies and you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you guidance and feedback on the course as you complete it. This course takes between 2 to 6 months to complete.
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health, learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units.

There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification. However, learners might find it useful if they have already completed a Level 1 qualification. You will be invited in to complete an induction and inital assessment.
Due to government funding these courses are available free of charge; subject to the learners meeting the set eligibility. You must have lived in the UK/EU for the past 3 years and be over 19 years old. There may be a fee should you withdraw from the course.
