About the course

This course is ideal for School Leavers who have completed a level 1 catering qualification and want to pursue a career in the catering industry.

You will take your level 1 skills further through challenging practical work in our kitchens. As well as producing meals for members of the public, your front of house and food and beverage service skills will also be fine-tuned. 

On this programme, you will also study the Diploma in Culinary Skills. You’ll further develop your skills through a wider range of practical activities within our training kitchens, and will produce meals in our Gallery Restaurant, where you will also broaden your service skills by working as front of house.

How will I be taught?

You will learn in our industry-standard commercial Gallery Restaurant. The restaurant is open to the public so you'll be gaining real practical experience using effective communication and service skills to prepare, cook and present food to customers.

  • Developing Skills for Employment in the Catering and Hospitality Industry
  • Preparation and Cooking Meat, Fish, Poultry
  • Pasty and Bun Dough
  • Hot Beverage
  • Functional Skills: Maths & English or GCSE

Entry Requirements

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

This course is for students progressing from the level 1 course. As well as a relevant level 1 qualification, you will need a level 1 qualification (or equivalent) in English and/or maths.
