The Higher National Certificate is a university-level qualification (Level 4) with a strong vocational emphasis. It is a nationally recognised qualification that equips you with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to succeed in employment or the opportunity to progress to study at university. The awarding body is Edexcel.
For people currently employed in a related field, an HNC provides the opportunity to upgrade knowledge and skills, combining work and study and may be a more cost-effective alternative to university study. This course is equivalent to the first year of a full time university-level programme.

The Higher National Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering has been developed to focus on equipping individuals with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to succeed in employment in the Aeronautical Engineering Industries.

There is strong emphasis on analysis and evaluation of subject-specialist concepts and procedures. Learners will have the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life, enabling learners to make an immediate contribution providing flexibility knowledge skills and motivation as a basis for future studies and career.
Students may go onto a wide and varied range of Engineering career pathways. Also students may choose to progress onto a HND Engineering course, or to an appropriate Engineering Degree programme.
