About this course

The Higher National Certificate is a university-level qualification (Level 4) with a strong vocational emphasis. It is a nationally recognised qualification that equips you with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to succeed in employment or the opportunity to progress to study at university. The awarding body is Edexcel.

Some modules are available via Online Attendance.

For people currently employed in a related field, an HNC provides the opportunity to upgrade knowledge and skills, combining work and study and may be a more cost-effective alternative to university study. This course is equivalent to the first year of a full time university-level programme.

The Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering has been developed to focus on equipping individuals with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to succeed in employment in the Mechanical Engineering Industries.

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

48 UCAS points in relevant subject(s)
Access 45 Credits at Pass, 15 Credits at Merit in an appropriate subject. Mature applicants with relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case by case basis. A satisfactory interview and reference will be required.
