About the course
This course is ideal if you’re interested in getting into the construction industry. It covers all the essential basic skills and knowledge you’ll need to know to progress onto a Level 2 course or Apprenticeship. If you would like to become a plumber, or engineer specialising in heating or ventilation this course is the perfect starting point for a school leaver.

- We have strong links with employers for Apprenticeships
- Students take part in challenging local and national competitions, including SkillBuild
Upon completion candidates will be awarded the City & Guilds Diploma in Plumbing Studies Level 1.
Costs

Your course
How will I be taught?
On this course, you will be taught using a mixture of theory and practical lessons. All practical lessons will take place in our purpose-built workshops under the instruction of staff with extensive industry experience.
What modules are covered?
This qualfication includes the following units:
- Structure of the construction industry
- Fundamental safe working practices
- Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
- Site preparation for working in the construction industry
- Above ground drainage
- Copper pipework
- Plastic pressure pipework
- Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
- Plumbing science
- Work experience (2 weeks)
How will I be assessed?
- Theory exams
- Practical assessments
Your future
What Next?
The majority of our Level 1 students choose to continue their education with us and either progress to the Level 2 C&G Diploma in Plumbing or to the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Plumbing. Students that choose not to continue with us may find employment in entry level construction jobs.

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?
From School
- Four GCSEs at grades 9-3
- To include English and maths GCSEs at grades 9-3
From College
- Level 1 qualification in English and maths
