About the course

This programme is ideal for School Leavers who are looking to expand upon their existing knowledge of bricklaying from a level 1 programme. Your skills will be taken to a more advanced level to prepare you for a career in construction.

Your course

How will I be taught?

During this course you will be taught using a mixture of theory and practical lessons. All practical lessons will take place in our purpose-built workshops under the instruction of staff with extensive industry experience.

What modules are covered?

This qualification comprises of the following units:

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction
  • Principles of building construction
  • Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
  • Producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
  • Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
  • Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures
  • Work experience (two weeks)

  • Multiple-choice papers
  • Practical assessments

Entry Requirements

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

This course is for students progressing from the level 1 course. 

From school:

  • Four GCSEs at grades 3 and above (including English and maths)

From college:

  • Relevant level 1 qualification at merit grade or higher (to include English and maths at level 1 or higher)
