This course is aimed at those who want to acquire the engineering competences needed to progress to the workplace. The course consists of hands on practical skills and the theories that underpin a range of engineering practices and processes.

  • Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Producing mechanical engineering drawings using computer aided design (CAD)
  • Producing sheet metal components and assemblies

What Next?

You will be able progress onto other engineering based qualifications such as:

  • EAL Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Business Improvement Techniques
  • EAL Level 2 Award in Industrial Environment Awareness, which covers the underpinning knowledge of the Performing Engineering Operations mandatory assessment routes
  • EAL Level 3 qualifications in Fabrication and Welding, Engineering Maintenance, Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering

Which will further broaden your skills set and increase your employability in the engineering industry.

Apprenticeships:

This may be taken as a standalone qualification, however, Performing Engineering Operations at Level 2 also forms a major component of SEMTA's Engineering Apprenticeship Framework and allows progression onto a variety of other Level 3 Engineering related qualifications.

From School

  • Four GCSEs at grades 9-3
  • To include English or maths GCSEs at grades 9-3

From College

  • Relevant level 1 qualification
  • English and maths at level 1 or higher
