About the course

During the EAL Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Plumbing, you will gain a practical experience of plumbing and an expectation of situations faced by plumbers in the building services sector.  

This course builds on the Level 2 Diploma by providing you with more advanced knowledge and the related practical skills needed to pursue a career in this occupational area. Studies include the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of domestic cold water, hot water, central heating and sanitation systems, as well as the fundamental principles of environmental technology systems.

This qualification is suitable for adults who are interested in plumbing and/or are considering a career change.

What Next?

The EAL Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Plumbing will not automatically qualify you to work as a plumber. However, it does offer a steppingstone into employment by providing you with the opportunity to progress to one of the following apprenticeships and/or Industry recognised qualifications at level 3:  

Apprenticeships:  

  • Plumbing and Heating  
  • Domestic Heating Industry  

Recognised Qualifications:  

  • EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating  
  • EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heating

Entry Requirements

What is the entry process?

You must be at least 16 years of age and have successfully completed the Level 2 Intermediate Diploma in Plumbing.  

Minimum levels of literacy and numeracy are also required to comply with the health and safety aspects of the scheme, the completion of the learning outcomes, and the assessments. 

How will I be assessed?

Assessment includes externally set and marked examinations, centre marked assignments/practical tests, and a final cross-unit synoptic assessment.
