Kits can be purchased online via our website once enrolled. The Kit includes all the barbering tools and equipment you will need for this course.

How will I be taught?

  • Theory classes
  • Practical salon classes with clients from Oct half term

What modules are covered?

  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
  • Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
  • Cut men’s hair using basic techniques
  • Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
  • Dry and finish men’s hair
  • Create basic outlines and detailing in hair
  • Assist in shaving services
  • Fulfil salon duties

How will I be assessed?

Assessments in all units are undertaken in College, and are a mixture of theory and practical work. Your practical work on clients will be observed by an assessor and marked. Some modules have exams, these are sat online.

Client feedback will need to be collated as evidence.

What training will be provided?

Theory delivery, developing and perfecting practical barbering skills.

Entry Requirements

How will I be assessed?

Students will be screened to check literacy and numeracy. In addition, if English is not the first language, applicants will be asked to do a Diagnostic Test. This will determine the appropriate course and level for each student.

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

No experience in barbering is required but we do recommend that some form of work experience is carried out in a barbering environment during the course to support your learning.
