Young Chef Programme
Overview
About the course
This programme is specifically designed to give young people, (aged between 14-16yrs) an opportunity to learn to cook tasty and healthy meals. This programme will suit you if you enjoy cooking as a hobby or are interested in a future career as a chef.
Costs
All ingredients are provided, for the duration of the course.
The course will take place on: Tuesday evening at 5 – 7pm
An apron will be provided to all students and will be collected back after each session, with an opportunity to purchase a chef’s hat at a cost of £1.00.

Your course
What modules are covered?
Week 1
Soups and Knife skills – you will be taught to use your chef’s knife and prepare the basic cuts of vegetables.
Week 2
Poultry– learn how to prepare and cook poultry dishes.
Week 3
Dishes from the sea - You will be taught how to skin, fillet and pin bone a fish, as well as, how to cook in a variety of ways from pan frying, roasting and en papillot.
Week 4
Pasta – learn how to master making pasta.
Week 5
Desserts – you will be taught how make desserts.
Your future
What Next?
This course could lead to studying a full time course, Level 1 – Food and Beverage Diploma.

You must be aged betweenn 14 and 16 years old to enrol on this programme.
