Hairdressing Project

Welcome to the hair and beauty online summer college. You have an exciting journey ahead and to start with course you will be creating a plan for your very own professional hair and beauty magazine front cover. From advertising the up and coming hair beauty brands and treatments to creating the make-up and hair look on a family member or yourself to be the face of your magazine!

You can use themes such as Glamour / Wedding or Prom or be really creative and use alternative looks such as Halloween / Festival/ or other very creative looks that inspire you. Creating  an eye catching front cover showcasing your ideas.

Let’s see your creativity. Use Instagram Pinterest and the internet to get inspiration.

Produce a mood board of what you could include on your magazine cover.  Think of a name for your hair beauty magazine, then research and add key information on some exciting hair and beauty information here are some examples:

  • Hair styles
  • Hair colours
  • New beauty treatments
  • Top skin care brands
  • Local spa’s and salons
  • Make-up brands and new products
  • Nail care systems or new polishes

You can use images from the internet, use magazines, newspapers, add written information or even sketch it yourself to make your mood board ! Here are some professional mood board ideas below to inspire you:

Depending on the theme of your front cover, you will now need to create a hair and make up look on yourself or a family member.

Please use accessories that you have at home jewellery / scarfs or anything that will creating an eye-catching magazine cover.

Please then add a before and after photo of your model or yourself to show the magazine cover look you have created.  Include a list of all the products and other things you used on your model to create your look and please take a picture of your mood board or save it as a document.

We would like you to email the before and after pictures, the mood board and a list of what you have used to create these looks along with your reasons for choosing the theme.

Once you have completed all three tasks, you will need to submit them by emailing hairandbeautysummercollege@farn-ct.ac.uk with the following details:

  • Full Name
  • Course
  • I do / do not  consent to my work and photos submitted to be used on FCOT’s social media platforms (delete as appropriate)
