A Level Results Success 2019

This A Level Results Day saw many students anticipating the opening of their results and celebrating the grades they’ve worked hard to achieve. We’re delighted to announce that our students achieved a pass rate of 95%.

Students visited the College throughout the day to collect their results, sharing their celebrations with the lecturers and classmates who supported them along the way. Many students had re-sat their A Levels having been unsuccessful at other colleges, making their successes even more cause for celebration. Following the achievement of their results, many will now be progressing to Higher Education courses at our very own University Centre Farnborough and at institutions across the country.

Principal Virginia Barrett commented: “In our first full year of linear A Levels, I am really proud of the 95% pass rate with 60% A*-C grades. These results were made possible by the dedication of our lecturing staff and the hard work put in by students. Congratulations to all who are celebrating today – we wish you the best of luck with your next steps and look forward to welcoming many of you to University Centre Farnborough this September.”

Head of A Levels, Emma Watkin, commented: “I’m really proud of all of the students on this excellent set of results. Many are now going to their first choice universities. I wish them all the best of luck on their education journeys. I’d also like to thank all of the staff for their exceptional hard work and dedication throughout the year.”

We spoke to some of the students who collected their results today to find out what their plans are for the future:

Siddharth
Studied: Maths, Chemistry, Physics
Now going to study: Computer Science at the University of Surrey

“I’m feeling relieved – it’s great after two years of hard work. The biggest help has been the teachers and friends I’ve made. I wouldn’t be here without them. I’m hoping to become a Software Engineer in the future.”

Jacob
Studied: Chemistry, Maths, Biology
Now going to study: Accounting Apprenticeship with the University of Surrey

“I retook my A Levels after getting CDD last year at another college, and my grades have gone up by two in every subject – it was definitely worthwhile retaking and getting a second chance. All of the teachers were really good, and I liked that the department was small as everyone got to know each other really well.”

Emily
Studied: English, Psychology, Law
Now going to study: Criminology and Forensic Studies at the University of Portsmouth

“I chose the College because of the smaller class sizes. There was a more one-to-one feel with your teachers and classmates. I’m happy with my grades and want to work as a Crime Scene Investigator in London in the future.”

Jacob
Studied: Economics, Business, Media Studies
Now going to study: Business Management at Lancaster University

“I feel relieved as I’ve been waiting for this day and the results are a weight off of my shoulders. The teachers have been amazing and really supportive – I couldn’t have asked for more help. You can ask lots of questions in smaller classes and have more dedicated time. I’d definitely recommend the College, especially for people who like smaller class sizes.”

April
Studied: Media, Film, Photography
Now going to study: Physiotherapy at Bournemouth University.

“I found the College really good and inclusive – I enjoyed all of my courses. Overall the support has been great especially from the Head of A Levels. I previously studied at another College and I wanted somewhere with a more homey-environment. The friends I have made here have been the best.”

It’s not too late to apply to study an A Level course with us this September. If you’d like to study a BTEC alongside your A Level, we also offer the option to combine these courses.

For all students at Farnborough and beyond receiving their A Level results, degree places are still available at University Centre Farnborough via Clearing or online. Congratulations to all who received results – we wish you good luck for the future!
