Adam’s Apprenticeship Story

Adam’s apprenticeship journey started with us after completing a work placement at Tim Purslow Ltd, a Mercedes Benz and Land Rover specialist, where he was offered the very first apprenticeship position with the company. Since then, Adam has gone from strength to strength in his permanent role as a Vehicle Technician.
As part of the apprenticeship, Adam shadows an experienced technician who demonstrates every aspect of their role, from basic servicing and repairs, to replacement of parts and diagnostic work.
So how has Adam found the experience so far? Here’s what he said: “Working at Tim Purslow Ltd is great! On a day to day basis, my tasks always vary. One day I’m carrying out routine services on my own but supervised, or I can be shadowing my mentor and diagnosing faults. Even carrying out extensive repairs at times! Working amongst such a talented and passionate team has helped me appreciate the academic side of what I’m learning at college”.
Reflecting on Adam’s time with the company, Director and co-owner of Tim Purslow Ltd, Rory Davidson, commented: “When Adam joined us as an apprentice technician, we very much embraced him into the Tim Purslow Ltd family. For us the most important aspect in any apprentice is to find someone with the right attitude and drive. They need to be interested, enthusiastic and someone who listens.”
“With Adam demonstrating all these skills and characteristics, the commitment we give is that we will invest in him, both in the necessary time and money to make sure he understands how things are done both properly and professionally in our industry”.
“For a modest size business like ours, having an apprentice is essential. Apart from helping provide training for the real world, it’s also an insurance policy for us in the sense of needing additional resource, as natural growth in the business obviously requires that.”
