Celebrations for Farnborough Graduates

Students at University Centre Farnborough graduated from their degree and higher education courses this October, with a grand ceremony at Guildford Cathedral.

The classes of 2020 and 2021 gathered to celebrate the achievement of their new qualifications with teachers, family and friends, taking centre stage in caps and gowns for the awarding of their degree certificates. The ceremony was presided over by Principal CEO, Virginia Barrett, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, Professor Osama Khan.

Lucy, who graduated with a degree in Early Years Education and Practice, commented: “I really enjoyed studying at Farnborough because it allowed me the flexibility to work alongside the degree and gain valuable experience”. They have now begun a career as a teacher.

Principal CEO, Virginia Barrett, commented “Today I am especially delighted that we are celebrating the achievements of our 2020 and 2021 graduates. A pandemic was not one of the challenges our students expected to face, making their achievement all the more special. During lockdown and isolation our students demonstrated their stickability, resilience and ability to adapt, capacity and willingness to support others and ability to collaborate with fellow students and lecturers. Well done to all our graduates and I wish you all the greatest successes in your life goals.”

Sing who graduated with a degree in Computing, commented: “The lecturers were so supportive … I wouldn’t be here now if it wasn’t for this course and the lecturers”. They have now begun a career as a software developer.

At University Centre Farnborough, we provide degree courses which are validated and awarded by our partner, the University of Surrey. We also work with a number of governing bodies to provide professional qualifications and higher education courses.

Keith who graduated with a degree in Graphic Design, commented: “The stand-out thing for me was the enthusiasm of the tutors, they work really well as a team and I got a sense for their passion of the subject”. They have now gone on to study a Master’s Degree in Book Design.
