College Marks National Careers Week

The College was delighted to celebrate National Careers Week 2024 with gusto and the signature Farnborough fanfare. The week-long event saw a careers fair featuring almost 50 stalls from potential future employers, talks from industry leaders and alumni, and careers guidance and workshops available to all students.

With hundreds of students in attendance, the event allowed students to make meaningful discoveries about what awaits beyond college in terms of both academic and professional pathways. It was clear that the careers fair got students excited for their futures with two students in particular who wanted to share their experience of the week’s agenda.

Avani, who is studying Level 3 Business said: “The whole week was great! The talks were incredibly engaging because they covered a lot of different areas of business and event management, not just the same things we learn in class. The careers fair was particularly exciting, with a stamp card system that rewarded conversations with employers and lecturers: a full card meant a free doughnut – a delicious incentive that definitely encouraged us to explore the diverse range of stalls!”

Zach, who is studying a T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development echoed Avani’s sentiments, saying: “It was really informative, and the number of stalls and speakers was great because it meant it was varied. I personally don’t know what I want to do after college and I know I’m not the only one, so events like this help to spark ideas and reveal potential opportunities. Plus, these events benefit everyone involved – employers looking for future talent, lecturers looking for potential students, and of course, students who are starting to think about what lies beyond college.”

Farnborough College of Technology strives to prepare the younger generation for work and university through annual events for careers, university, and apprenticeship pathways. Beyond equipping students, these events provide employers both within and outside of the local community with a valuable platform to connect with a diverse pool of talented and motivated students. Representatives from various companies expressed their satisfaction with the calibre of students and the opportunity to showcase their organisations.

This successful National Careers Week further underscores Farnborough College of Technology’s commitment to nurturing strong industry connections.
