College Runway Flying High for Fashion

Our Fashion students certainly earned their wings at an aviation-themed fashion show last week.

Top designers from the Top Model franchise and London Fashion Week who attended the show were “bowled over” by the quality of the creations at the Air Fashion Show – held in honour of this year’s Farnborough Airshow.

Designer to royalty Omar Mansoor, and Louise Allison of Louise Rose Couture were also guest judges at the high flying show.

This exciting production was the first ever event to be held in our new flagship building – the Enterprise Centre Farnborough.

Fashion Lecturer Sam Jones said: “Our special guests were bowled over at the high quality and creativeness of the work on display. I am really proud of our students who organised everything to do with this dynamic show.

“As well as the Fashion students, we also had Media students doing the sound, lighting, filming and photographing of the event and Hair & Beauty students making the models look incredible.

“The ‘Air’ theme represents our students spreading their wings and moving on from college to university or into the Fashion industry but it also correlates beautifully with Farnborough’s proud aviation history and this year’s Airshow.”

All the garments featured were created by first and second year students and three of them have been chosen to be exhibited in the Mall Galleries in Westminster on plinths alongside entries from the Slade School of Art. The London exhibition, entitled ‘Aviation Artists’, runs from July 19th.

Other awards went to Student of the Year and Best Final Collection.
