Fashion Students Lend a Hand at London Fashion Week!

For the fourth year in a row, our Fashion and Textiles students have played a big role in London Fashion Week!

Students included: Tamzin Porter, Olivia West, Morgan Dove, Lisa Gurung, Kirsty Kimber, Elise Jones, Natasha Greck, and their student mentors were: Elise George, Hannah Mills, Smriti Limbu, Kat Khumcheun, and Binja Rana.

Our students had the opportunity to dress models for 11 designers across three shows which were run by Fashion International. Fashion Lecturer, Sam Jones, took seven Fashion and Textiles students and five former students to help designers. Among the designers were Ollari, Mimi Bindra, Yuvna Kin, and Omar Mansoor.

Outside of London Fashion Week, Omar Mansoor supports our Fashion and Textiles students at their end of year fashion show, where he helps to pick the best garments alongside fellow judge, Geoff Cox, the Fashion International producer.

Students dressed models before the three runway shows

Sam and the students began their work with fittings before recording runway orders, and labelling garments in the correct order on each rail. They then helped to steam garments, carry out final fittings, and dressed the models during three runway shows.

Students helped to make sure all garments were in the right order on the rails

Sam Jones said: “The students were fantastic. They worked well as a team to ensure that garments were presented in runway order at all times.

“They worked extremely hard in a very intense, high-pressure environment, and all of them surpassed my expectations – they all got stuck in and on with the job.

“This experience has fuelled their enthusiasm for joining the industry and they are all now completing university applications in order to further their studies in various areas of the fashion industry.”

Geoff Cox, the Fashion International show’s producer, said: “The students were fabulous as always, a big thank you for all of your help.”

Our students are looking forward to working with Fashion International in the future, and visiting London Fashion Week again.
