Hairdressing Apprentice to Take on Regional Heats in National Competition

One of our apprentice hairdressers Georgie Akers, 22 from New Haw, has been wowing judges and will now compete at a regional heat of the Wella XPOSURE competition.

Georgie, currently studying the NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing, used her creative cutting and colouring skills to lead her through the photographic heats at Wella; putting her in a fantastic position to compete against other students in the live regional final in Bristol.
The annual Wella XPOSURE competition invites student hairdressers to show their passion for creative, professional styles. Those who impress the judges with a flair for commercial styles can progress through the heats to the high-profile final, held at Wella’s studio in London.

Georgie said:

“I feel thrilled and excited to be given this opportunity to be able to show my love for hairdressing. My teachers from college have been fantastic and play a large role in my confidence that has led me to entering competitions.

Our students have proved to be strong competitors in the past, with young hairdressers’ dedication carrying them through regional heats for several years. This year our hair and beauty department are confident in Georgie’s drive for success.

Programme Manager for Hair and Beauty, Clair Bryan said:

“Wella Xposure is such a great platform for students to shine and be creative showing what an exciting industry this is to be in.”
