It was a ‘bulls eye’ for two current Media Production students at Farnborough College of Technology. Jack Underwood and Shaz Samad, who are both studying BA (Hons) Media Producation, secured placements to work on the World Professional Darts Championships at Lakeside in Frimley Green. The two students are helping in the TV coverage of the 39th World Championship for BBC One, BBC Two and BT Sport and gaining invaluable experience in a Live TV environment.
Lecture in Media, Anna Johnson, said, Work placements like these give our students the knowledge and experience to make an impact when applying for jobs after college.
The college has built up a relationship with IMG Productions, the company that produces the live coverage and highlights for the BBC. This is the tenth year that Farnborough College of Technology students have worked on the Championships and many have gone on to be offered work on high profile events such as Wimbledon, Match of the Day and Skys Premiership coverage.
Head of Media and Creative Arts at the College, Lawrence Magee, said, This is excellent experience and is the sort of thing that makes the colleges Media Production degree stand out from other universities, this year we have had students doing work experience at many media companies, invaluable experience making our students stand out in the job market.
