New Adult Training Centre for Hart Announced

Farnborough College of Technology and Hart District Council have announced plans to open a new adult training centre this September.

Hart Professional College will be the only one of its kind in Hart, serving residents of the town and surrounding areas from this Autumn.

Located within the Hart District Council offices on Harlington Way, the centre will offer a range of both part and full-time qualifications for adults seeking to change jobs or climb the career ladder.

The facility in Fleet, run by Farnborough College of Technology, will extend the broad offer of courses already available in Farnborough to meet local demand. More of the qualifications offered through the government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee will be available to adult learners who are eligible to study selected courses for free too.

The idea for the new centre was born following input from various individuals and organisations associated with the College. The centre will primarily focus on offering specialised education in health and counselling fields.

By making use of the town centre location, leaders at Farnborough College of Technology are looking forward to better serving residents of Hart and the surrounding areas. Hart is one of the College’s main catchment areas, making this new facility especially relevant to its local communities.

Principal CEO Virginia Barrett said: “We are often asked about how we can better provide training for the residents of Hart, so this venture represents a move to both serve the needs of more communities around us while expanding the College to make the most of government funding available to adult learners. I am looking forward to meeting prospective students at one of our future open events to see how we can help them move forward with their life goals.”

Councillor David Neighbour, Leader of Hart District Council, said: “We are delighted to support Farnborough College of Technology in this exciting expansion of its services which dovetails with our commitment to supporting residents with employment and skills.

“The council offices are a hub for many local organisations such as Hart Voluntary Action, Citizen’s Advice and Hampshire Constabulary. We look forward to welcoming staff and students into the building.”

Along with a number of classrooms, the centre will be host to breakout spaces and IT facilities, with neighbouring Fleet Library also conveniently located next door.
