What will I be doing as a Plumbing & Domestic Heating Apprentice?
As a Plumbing and Domestic Heating (Gas-Fired Water and Central Heating Appliances) Apprentice you will plan, select, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems. You could be working inside or outside a property. Customer service skills and being tidy and respectful are important qualities as you will often be working in customers’ homes as well as on building sites.
What work will I do?
As an Advanced Plumbing and Heating Apprentice, the installation of plumbing and heating systems including the design of hot, cold and heating systems. You will understand the core principles of gas safety and pressurised systems and understand and carry out electrical work on domestic plumbing and heating systems. It is important for a plumbing and heating apprentice to be able to work independently or as a team and use their knowledge and skills.
What are the entry requirements?
The entry criteria include five GCSEs grades A* – C, 5 – 9 in English and maths or equivalent and a relevant Level 2 qualification.
