Pampered for a Purpose: Hair and Beauty Students Raise Money for Major Charities

Farnborough College of Technology’s talented hair and beauty students put their skills to good use, raising funds for both Breast Cancer Now and The Brain Tumour Charity through fundraisers.

The events offered a variety of pampering treatments like luxurious back massages, Indian head massages and rejuvenating facials, with all proceeds going to the charities. As a complement to the treatments, attendees also received a free beauty and wellness goody bag and could enjoy a delightful array of nibbles and refreshments.

“These fundraisers were a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain valuable experience in a real-world setting, while also giving back to worthy causes,” said Carly John, Hair and Beauty Programme Manager, at Farnborough College of Technology. “They honed their client service skills, communication, and teamwork, all while providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience for the attendees. We are incredibly impressed with their dedication and commitment to making a difference.”

Anthony Purcigo, Lecturer in Beauty Therapy, added: “The students did a wonderful job organising the events – from the refreshments to the decorations and the scheduling of treatments. We are proud to be supporting such great causes.”

The events displayed the dedication and talent of the hair and beauty students, while also raising awareness about breast cancer, brain tumours and brain cancer. The fundraisers were a resounding success with plenty of satisfied customers and generous donations, leaving students feeling proud to have used their skills for an altruistic purpose.

Principal CEO, Virginia Barrett, said: “Events such as these create the essence of Farnborough College of Technology. We strive to provide an unparalleled academic environment that prepares students for their professional life, but also gives back to the community. This is an example of that aspiration in practice.”

Farnborough College of Technology is proud of its students’ and how they have exemplified a passion for their craft and a desire to make a positive impact on the world.
