Students Take on London Fashion Week

During this year’s London Fashion Week, students on our Fashion and Textiles programme helped to run the Fashion International runway show!

It’s been a busy start to the College year for our Fashion students. Current and former students joined forces this September to organise and run the backstage area for Fashion International’s runway show.

It was a busy and exciting day for the students involved. For their first challenge, students worked with designers to fit their garments to the models as well as labelling items ready for the show. To stay in time with the show, models were to be dressed just 15 minutes before their scheduled walk. Students were responsible for helping the models into their next garments and making sure they were ready in time.

Lecturer Sam Jones acted as backstage director for the show. She commented:

“Students were extremely professional in their approach, worked hard, logically and in teams to get the work needed done. It was frantic backstage but they kept their cool and got the job done all models hit the runway in order!”

“We had ex students return to mentor the current students and one ex student, Hollie, sent the models down the runway to the show directors instructions!”

Our Fashion students were joined by students on our Photography and Media Degree programmes, who photographed, recorded and documented the event.
