Timetabled Lessons continue at Farnborough College of Technology
We have invested in our remote working infrastructure over the last few years. Here is what to expect with online learning:
- Live teaching is taking place as per your timetables via Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- We aim to safeguard staff and students so as well as compliance with the national lockdown, while 1 in 50 of us nationally have the virus and the situation is worse in Rushmoor, most staff are working online and only a few agreed learners are allowed to attend on-site
- All our support services are also being offered via Teams, Zoom and over the phone. This includes counselling, additional learning support, careers advice, health advice, and safeguarding
- A list of Virtual Enrichment activities that are taking place can be found in a recent Learner Services Bulletin sent to students via email. This includes British Sign Language, eSports, Creative Writing, Football Forum and more
- Do be on time for your lessons as e-registers are marked remotely on a daily basis. Otherwise, if you are aged 16-18 your parents/ guardian will receive the automated absence notification
- You are expected to engage as you would on campus including completing homework and assessments set by lecturers. It is important that you read the e-code of conduct that has been shared via your tutorial
- In line with government guidance, students can sit their exams on site and 80% of students are doing so. In order to protect each other on site, students are required to take lateral flow Covid-19 tests when entering the College to identify those who have Covid-19 but are asymptomatic. All students should wear their mask at all times, maintain social distance and leave for home as soon as you leave the exam room
- During the national lockdown in 2020 our quality department conducted a best practice review of online teaching and this work continues. We have a dedicated Digital Manager who supports staff on Teams and Zoom. We are encouraging students to feedback, so do tell us what you enjoy and what we could do better
