Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts

Congratulations on being offered a place at Farnborough College of Technology. We are looking forward to welcoming you to the college this September. Below you will find important information to help you enrol on your course and begin your time at college.

Your Enrolment Session

Date: Thursday 27 August 2020

Time:  4:30 pm

Location: Westminster Studio Space – Farnborough College of Technology

What You Need to Bring

On the day of your enrolment session, you will need to bring the following:

  • Your Joining Form
    Your joining form will be posted to you before your enrolment session. Make sure to read it through carefully, make any amendments and sign it before bringing it in.*
  • Your GCSE results
  • Proof of your identity
    For example: your birth certificate/passport/driving licence/etc.
    If you have not always lived in the EU, please bring your passport.
  • Pen and Paper

**If you are under 18, your parent/guardian must sign your Joining Form for you.

What Happens During Your Enrolment Session

During your enrolment session you will meet with teaching staff and discuss your choice of course to ensure that you’re still on the course that is best for you.

We will check your Joining Form and GCSE results during the session, so make sure to bring them with you on the day and that your joining form is signed.

Our Learner Services team will be on hand to discuss all the ways we can help with the costs of studying, and give you advice on travel. We will show you how to use the resources at the college, including the library, Moodle, the intranet and our IT systems.

We will also take a photo and print it onto your Student ID card, so remember to bring your best smile!

Farnborough College of Technology is a 10-minute walk from the town centre, with convenient public transport links, as well as free on-site car parking. To find out more about getting to college, please see our Travel page.

Course Costs

Course Materials, Equipment and Uniforms

Please find below a link to the equipment that you will need to purchase for your course.

All Students will need:

  • Pens / Stationery
  • A4 Paper- you will be provided with an A5 notebook
  • USB drive (8GB min)
  • A4 File for handouts and log books

Drama classes

  • Soft trousers and loose t-shirts

Dance Modules

  • Tracksuit Bottoms, Shorts, Leggings / Tights / Vests / T-Shirts
  • Leotard (If desired but not essential, looser clothing would be more appropriate)
  • Hair to be tied back
  • No Jewellery
  • Sports bras required and students must be covered up

Footwear

The following are allowed in the Theatre and Dance Studio – Jazz Shoes, Foot thongs and bare feet are allowed in every class and Trainers may be required on occasion.

Character Shoes would be useful for performances.

Financial Help

One of the many ways in which we help our students to be successful is by making sure that we provide support for meeting the costs of studying for those who need it.

We offer Bursary Schemes that can help with the costs of travel to college, course materials, uniform and some trips. We also offer Free College Meals – if you received Free Meals at school it is likely that you will qualify for this scheme.
