A Cow of Flowers? Our Students’ Latest Challenge!

Our Floristry students created a display in the shape of a cow for the Alresford Agricultural Show!

Our Floristry students were asked to create a unique display for Sheen Stickland Accountants, to be shown at the Alresford Agricultural Show this September. The accountancy firm approached Floristry Lecturer Vicky Hutton to commission the piece, and she decided to get her students involved, leading to the creation of Daisy the cow!

Students were chosen from Level 2 and 3 courses, and ranged in age from 16-19 to Adult Learners. Everyone worked incredibly hard as a team, and were able to complete the project in just 2 days!

The show took place on Sunday 2 September and has been running for over 100 years. It hosts activities for all ages, from animal petting and ukulele jams, to ferret and pig racing!

A finished Daisy in all her glory!

Floristry Lecturer, Vicky Hutton said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to create a design on behalf of a 70 year old accounting firm, Sheen Stickland Accountants. Our students worked well within a team to make their design a reality, and we are all proud of their incredible achievement!

“We’ve received a thank you email from the event organisers, and are delighted that they enjoyed the design as much as we did!”

Programme Manager, Gwen Grace, said “It’s brilliant that our Floristry students are able to create floral designs for clients whilst studying here at Farnborough College of Technology.

“We hope the show was a success and look forward to working with the Alresford Agricultural Show and Sheen Strickland Accountants in the future.”

It’s not too late to apply for a Floristry course and start this September. We have courses for School Leavers and Adult Learners. To find out more about the courses we offer, click here.
