Communication

Health and social care professionals need good communication skills to develop positive relationships and share information with people using services, their families, carers, colleagues and other professionals. It is important, therefore, for those embarking on a career in health and social care to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required to develop appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

As well as verbal and nonverbal methods being used within HSC settings, many service users will prefer to communicate using different methods. There methods are called alternative forms of communication.

You are required to produce a poster on five or more alternative forms of communication.

Please research at least five of the forms of communication shown here and then create a poster to show:

1. What you have learnt about them
2. How they are used within HSC settings.

Include pictures on your poster and try and be creative.
