How will I be taught?

This course provides the essential skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to perform professional hairdressing services in a salon environment. Training takes place in a realistic salon setting, giving learners hands-on experience with real clients and preparing them for the expectations of working in the industry

What modules are covered?

Students will develop the confidence and ability to carry out a range of services, including shampooing and conditioning, cutting, styling, colouring, and customer consultation, while also learning vital topics such as health and safety, client care, and promoting additional products and services.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is carried out continuously throughout the course and includes:

Practical assessments: Observation of hairdressing services carried out on clients under salon conditions.

Online tests: To assess theoretical understanding of techniques, hair science, and professional standards.

Assignments and portfolio work: Compilation of evidence, including treatment records, written tasks, and reflective work.

What Next?

Upon successful completion of the VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing, learners will be qualified to work as a junior stylist or assistant stylist in a salon.
