About this course

The CIPD Level 3 Foundation Diploma is designed to introduce you to a wide range of practical skills required by today’s roles in Human Resources including: human resources assistants, learning and development assistants, personnel assistants or officers, line managers, secretarial assistants, clerical staff and trainers. The Diploma incorporates the Level 3 Certificate so you do not need to have this to apply for the Diploma.

Costs

You must become a student member at the beginning of your course. As a student member of the CIPD benefits will include online access to the CIPD student resources, copies of the CIPD’s People Management magazine plus access to networking and other opportunities via the CIPD branch network.

Students will be responsible for their own membership joining fees payable directly to the CIPD.  There is a well-stocked library within the College and individual lecturers will advise on recommended texts.

How will I be taught?

Students must achieve an 80% minimum attendance requirement and commit to self-directed study when preparing for class/group work and assignments.  You will also be required to attend pre-arranged individual tutorials.

Although the course content is delivered in the classroom, the emphasis is on the application of the theory, knowledge and skills into the workplace.  Your employer will benefit from your development as you progress throughout the course and apply your learning in the workplace on a day by day basis.

How will I be assessed?

Each unit is assessed by an assignment or set of assignments, as well as skills activities such as role plays and presentations. There are no examinations.

What Next?

Once you have successfully completed the Level 3 Foundation Diploma you can progress onto the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Diploma in HRM.

Entry Requirements

What is the entry process?

The CIPD Level 3 Foundation Diploma is an open access course aimed at students just beginning their careers in HR or those who do not have a qualification higher than Level 3 (A level).  You must have a pass in both GCSE maths and GCSE English. Discussion with a member of the HR teaching team is required prior to, or at enrolment.
