The College has become the 50th institution to join the BAFTA albert Education Partnership, strengthening its commitment to preparing learners for a creative industry that cares about its environmental impact.
For students across media and production arts courses, the College’s BAFTA albert partnership opens the door to practical, real‑world learning about sustainability in film, TV, and digital production. It gives learners the chance to explore how climate and nature challenges shape modern screen work – and, importantly, how they can play an active role in creating positive change.
As part of the programme, students will use the albert Student Toolkit and carbon calculator, the same tools now expected by major UK broadcasters and film funders. This early hands‑on experience helps learners build confidence with industry‑standard processes they’ll encounter throughout their careers.
The training supports all creative pathways, whether a student is passionate about producing, editing, writing, set design, or development. Those who complete the module will earn an official albert Grad certificate and digital badge, giving them a valuable advantage when applying for university places, apprenticeships, and roles in film, television, and digital media.
Principal CEO, Virginia Barrett (OBE) shared: “Sustainability is no longer optional in the world and screen production is no exception. By joining the BAFTA albert Education Partnership, we are ensuring our students gain the knowledge, tools and industry insights they need to thrive in a sector undergoing rapid transformation. This partnership reinforces our commitment to developing learners who are not only highly skilled, but who understand their responsibility to the planet.”
Media lecturer, Josh Sparkes added: “It’s fantastic to see our students building the practical skills to make sustainability a natural part of their work. This certification not only strengthens their productions now, but also helps them stand out when they take their next steps into the industry.”
The College’s involvement in the BAFTA albert Education Partnership demonstrates a commitment to training students not only as creatives, but as responsible professionals who understand the impact their work can have on the world.
BAFTA albert has welcomed the partnership and looks forward to seeing the positive impact Farnborough’s students will make as the next generation of screen professionals.
