Students Celebrate Their Results and Look Ahead to Future Opportunities
Today, excitement and anticipation were palpable across Farnborough College of Technology (FCOT) as students collected their A Level, T Level and BTEC results and prepared for the next stage of their journeys.
Students returned to campus to celebrate their achievements with friends, lecturers and support staff, reflecting on their hard work and sharing plans for university, apprenticeships and employment.
This year’s results reflect the commitment shown by students throughout their studies, with strong outcomes achieved across A Levels, T Levels and BTEC qualifications. Pass rates continue to improve with a 100% pass rate seen across 80% of Level 3 programmes.
T Level Success
T Levels are now a programme of choice with both high pass rates and high grades – the College is celebrating the 97% of students who passed their programmes of study and 75% who also received merit or above. Students are progressing into a range of exciting destinations in university, work and apprenticeships.
Callum, who studied T Level Digital Production, Design and Development, received a Distinction is progressing on to a degree apprenticeship with BAE Systems – the company he did his industry placement with.
Callum said: “One of the best bits about the course was definitely the hands-on aspects – we got to do a load of coding, a lot of hands-on work with computers and we even got industry placements out of it, so we got first-hand experience.”
Reflecting on his time at college, he added:
“The lecturers are massively helpful and they are always there to assist you and have no issues if you ask for help.”
The College is delighted with the results, which demonstrate the value of these qualifications. By combining academic study with real-world industry experience, they leave students well positioned for future employment or higher-level study.
Strong BTEC Results
BTEC students also celebrated another successful year, with an outstanding pass rate of 99% across Level 3 BTECs and 80% of students also received a triple merit and above.
These practical, career-focused qualifications continue to help students develop the applied skills, knowledge and confidence needed for further study and employment.
Harry, who studied Business, achieved Distinction, Merit, Merit and is now progressing to Portsmouth University to study Business and HR.
He said:
“The lecturers were really good, they supported you literally every step of the way. I went to a college before and it wasn’t as good – I think Farnborough College of Technology recovered the experience for me and motivated me to go to uni.”
Having studied Aeronautical Engineering at the College, Jamie (pictured right) is going on to join the army as an aircraft technician. He shared:
“Taking apart the Cessna aeroplane onsite was probably my best bit – the course gives you some hands-on skills before you even get out there, it’s definitely useful.”
Many BTEC students are progressing to universities across the country, while others have secured apprenticeships or are taking their first steps directly into industry.
A Level Achievement
A Level results have continued to improve post-pandemic with an overall pass rate of 95% across a range of subjects. Students are excited about their next steps.
Student Governor, Bobare, studied English, History and Law, achieving A, B, B and has secured a place at the University of Reading studying Law and International Business.
She said:
“I really liked the environment at the College. I think it’s because there’s a mix between those studying higher education, adult education and further education – everyone’s quite friendly and everything feels a little bit more relaxed and independent, though the College definitely pushes you to do your best.”
Looking Ahead
Today’s results highlight the wide range of opportunities available at Farnborough College of Technology and the staff’s incredible commitment to excellence. Students from the College will now move on to university courses, higher and degree apprenticeships, and careers across sectors including engineering, healthcare, business, creative industries and digital technologies.
