Overview

About the course

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering has a work related focus and prepares students for employment in the aeronautical engineering sector, or to progress to higher education or a vocational degree programme. This course is equivalent to three A Levels. Students will take mandatory units and pre-selected optional units which reflect the modern aeronautical industry.

How will I be assessed?

All units are internally assessed using a set of grading criteria and a summative unit grade awarded at pass, merit or distinction. Successful students will be awarded an overall triple grade e.g. DDD, DMM MMP based on points boundaries.

There will also be a written examination at the end of year 1 for the Engineering Principles unit

What Next?

On succesful completion of this course, you will have a broad portfolio of qualifications that will enable progression to work at a technician level and advanced modern apprenticeship, or go on to higher education at Degree level.

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

From School

  • Five GCSEs at grades 9-4
  • To include English and maths GCSEs at 9-4

From College

  • Relevant level 2 qualification at merit grade or higher
  • English and/or maths at level 2 or higher
