Course Code: A399 Duration: 2 Weeks Attendance: Location: Farnborough Campus
Aldershot College

Overview

About the course

This course is for electricians who have the necessary qualifications and want to know how to install charging stations for Electric Vehicles that can be plugged in. It covers the technical and practical aspects of the design and installation process. The course is accredited by City & Guilds and leads to a Level 3 Award in 2921-31.

Who is this programme for?

As the number of battery-electric cars increases so does the need to rapidly expand the electrical vehicle charging (EV charging) infrastructure from circa 35,500 charge points across the UK network to 500,000 charge points by 2030.

The growth in electrical vehicle charging (EV charging) infrastructure presents a significant opportunity and the industry must ensure the workforce is skilled to install and maintain this infrastructure safely and efficiently.

What will I study?

The qualification covers additional methods of protecting against open PEN conductor faults and how to assess if an installation has an issue with diverted neutral current. It also covers smart functions in EVSE and relevant items within the installation as a whole. Integration into prosumer’s electrical installations including the option of electric vehicles reverse feeding into the installation and/or supply grid.
