Students Compete in Science Olympiads

Our A Level students recently took part in the Biology and Physics Olympiads, receiving a number of awards and commendations!

Competing students with their certificates of achievement

The British Physics Olympiad and British Biology Olympiad are a series of competitions that give students a chance to demonstrate their scientific knowledge. The competitions are open to students studying GCSE, AS and A Levels.

The Olympiads aim to encourage the study of sciences, as well as recognising young scientists. The competitions involved timed multiple choice tests that challenge problem solving skills and knowledge. Competing students were awarded certificates for the successful completion of the competition:

Physics
Students Brandan, Alexandria, Daniella and Siddharth were awarded bronze medals. Elizabeth, Eman, Erlend, Jawad, Joshua, Karina, Markus, Prashim, and Thomas received commendations.

Biology
Students Gemma and Jacob received silver medals. Luke was highly commended, Robbie and Jake were commended, and Rzelle completed the competition.

Biology student Jake, told us: “Doing the Olympiad has helped me prepare for my course and will hopefully look good to employers”.
