Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week (6th-12th February 2023)

To recognise Children’s Mental Health Week, Solent University have teamed up with the Solent Mind Charity to offer a series of free mental health workshops to support young people and their parents and carers. These 90-minute online sessions will include information, tools and strategies to help identify potential health issues, guidance on where to get advice and support and approaches to looking after your own mental health and wellbeing.

They will also be giving attendees the opportunity to put their questions to a specialist panel. Please see details below for the individual events.

Let’s Talk Mental Health – Online Workshop for Parents, Carers and Special Guardians

Tuesday 7th February 2023 – 17:30 – 19:00

This session will help parents and carers gain an understanding of mental health and wellbeing and how someone experiencing mental ill health might feel. It will also examine ways of maintaining our own mental health and wellbeing. The session will culminate in a Q&A panel with representatives from Solent Minds and the Solent University Support Team.

Let’s Talk Mental Health – Online Workshop For Young People

Wednesday 8th February 2023 – 16:30 – 18:00

This session for young people will focus on reinforcing positive thinking habits and developing resilience. It will explore emotional resilience, how to be a supportive friend, healthy sleeping patterns, coping skills for dealing with anger, anxiety, exam stress and where to find help. The session will culminate in a Q&A panel with representatives from Solent Minds and the Solent University Support Team.
