Thinking about going to University in 2023?

If you’re thinking of studying a university-level course in 2023, here are a few themes to start thinking about:

  1. A degree apprenticeship might be the best route into your career. You can view current vacancies here to get an idea of what is available to you.
  2. Visit universitiesto gain more information and discover what you like or don’t like about the university, location, and the courses themselves. You can view upcoming open events via the UCAS website.
  3. Look into entry requirements and any admissions tests you might need to take. It’s good to start preparing now so that you feel confident and prepared for when you begin your application after the Summer.
  4. Make the most of the Summer break! This is your chance to gain valuable experiences to impress universities with in your application. Volunteering, summer jobs, and learning a new skill are good examples of what you could focus on, especially if it’s relevant to your subject or career of choice. Find out more about volunteering and local jobs.
  5. Start thinking about your personal statement. This is the piece of text you’ll write that explains to universities why they should offer you a place. While you can find some examples of personal statements online – from the likes of Reed.co.ukKing’s College London and Aston University – it’s important to use your own words and not copy them directly.
  6. Attend a talk with our Careers Team on applying to university. They’re on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th June. Talk to your tutor to book a place.
