About the course

This course is ideal if you’re interested in getting into the construction industry. It covers all the essential basic skills and knowledge you’ll need to know to progress onto an Apprenticeship or into the worksplace. If you would like to become a plumber, or engineer specialising in heating or ventilation this course is an ideal progression for a school leavers who have completed a relevant level 1 course. 

  • This course is taught at our Aldershot Construction College campus
  • You will learn using modern facilities and tools
  • Our lecturers have lots of useful experience to share with you
  • We have strong links with employers for Apprenticeships
  • Students take part in challenging local and national competitions, including SkillBuild

Upon completion candidates will be awarded the Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma in Plumbing Studies.

Costs

Your course

How will I be taught?

Candidates will be taught using a mixture of theory and practical lessons. All practical lessons will take place in our purpose-built workshops under the instruction of staff with extensive industry experience.

What modules are covered?

The qualification comprises of the following units:

  • Health & safety in building services engineering
  • Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
  • Common plumbing processes
  • Cold water systems
  • Domestic hot water systems
  • Sanitation
  • Central heating systems
  • Drainage systems
  • Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering
  • Work experience (two weeks)

How will I be assessed?

  • Online exams
  • Practical assessments

What Next?

Many of our level 2 students progress to the Intermediate Apprenticeship or to employment within the construction industry.

Entry Requirements

What previous qualifications and experience will I need?

This course is for students progressing from the level 1 course. 

From school:

  • Four GCSEs at grades 4 and above (including English and maths)

From college:

  • Relevant level 1 qualification (or equivalent) including English and maths
